Have you pulled the float bowl (or nut if it has one) and make sure you are getting good flow to the carb Reactions: BigMike. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. Hi everyone my 87 trx 250r had a dirty carb wouldn't idle so I cleaned it but left the choke lever in because someone stripped that stupid plastic nut and when I put the carb back in it ran fine but was spitting oil out the exaust and was leaking out the overflow tube in at the bottom. If this is your first visit to 3WHeeLeR WoRLD, please take a moment and look around. I don't know if the previous owner has done something stupid like changing the stock jets and messed up everything. I believe this bike belong to 1986 Category and it has rear drum breaks and front disc break. The bike has only one carburetor and floaters are fully non adjustable plastic. Main Jet is 122 and Pilot jet (slow jet) is 40. Here are the carburetor details i wrote down when i took it apart. I finally managed to get through the smoke test. Here is a photo of my carburetor, i have taken a close up picture. Thanks a lot for your valued answer friend, Covers all issues short of murder, that takes a few thousand pesos. In the Philippines, you could just slide them a 100 peso note, if there were such a smoke test. I only have reeds, kn filter and rear muffler. Having midrange issues and thinking to put oem carb parts on my stock engine. it is a 34mm keihin PJ- flatslide style carb and a very small (for a 250cc) poorly designed carb with the choke being part of the idle adjustment. I just bought this thing and just wondering. Hi Anyone knows what are the oem specs on carb needle (letters and number) for a 1986 atc 250r I have NR146 but i believe its not oem keihin. Is this the one the carb restorer fixed for you, and did he re-jet it? If it was smoke free before, and it's not been rejetted, it probably just needs the jets cleaned out good, air filter, spark plug, valve clearance check, etc. The one that is on mine is a Keihn Flatslide PJ, thats all I know. You can also tell us what your spark plug looks like, or photo it, and see if it's running rich or lean. If not, you could look around and see what other 250's share the same carb and try that jetting. If it's the same as what was used here, it would be in the parts fiche on this site. A close up of the carb would be better for ID purposes. ![]()
